With the non-stop information being forced upon us every single day, is anyone able to sit still and think for themselves? Today on the Spiritual Spiral, I begin by reading an excerpt from Steven Pressfield's amazing book, The War of Art, and talk about my own creative process and how I often oscillate from feeling positive to negative about my own craft. I talk about energy and instinct and share a story from this past week where I stopped at a gas station on the border of Arizona and California. As I walked out of the bathroom, I immediately had a feeling in my gut that something could go terribly wrong. I play a clip from the Joe Rogan podcast where Joe talks with Sam Harris about the complexity surrounding the human instinct and why it's so challenging to predict what may happen at any given moment. I read an excerpt from Antonia Martinez's incredible book Chaos Monkey's and wonder how technology and algorithms have impacted the way people think. I end the show by talking about propaganda, how the mainstream news media seemingly wants everyone to think the same way and I play a powerful clip from a recent Joe Rogan podcast where his guest finds some striking similarities between present day and the 1920's.
