What do you do or where do you turn to feel human? What do you need to feel seen and important? Today on the Spiritual Spiral, I continue to discuss my personal struggle surrounding the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. It seems as each day passes, the anxiety and questions swirling around inside my head are only growing stronger. I'm trying to stay positive and find the silver lining but each day, it feels like there's just more bad news. I taught a yoga class last night right before the city of LA mandated a citywide gym closure. I talk about the joy of teaching that one final class but I couldn't help but feel the nervous energy inside the room. I talk about Dave Eggers' book, The Circle and humanity's innate need to feel seen and important. I also just finished watching a wonderful movie starring Tom Hanks called "It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood." I was pleasantly surprised at how timely and profound the movie's message was. Mister Rogers' says, "To die is to be human and anything human is mentionable. Anything mentionable is manageable.” I'd like to think we're going to get through this and in a few months time, we'll proudly look back at how strong we were as we navigated our lives through this crises.
